Nearly 13 million visitors to Mekong Delta

The Mekong River Delta drew 1.8 million foreign arrivals in July, raising the total visitors of 2012 to 12.8 million, 9% higher than the same period last year.

The tourism industry brought VND2.6 trillion to this region, a year-on-year increase of 25%. 

Regional provinces need collaborate with each other to build infrastructure, develop new tourism products and attract more investment for promoting tourism in the 2010-2015 period, according to the Mekong River Delta Tourism Association. 

Each province of The Mekong River Delta must focuses on promoting specific key tourism products, for instance waterway tourism and festivals in Can Tho province and An Giang province, convalescence in Kien Giang province, tours of Vietnam’s southern tip and eco-tourism in Ca Mau province and cultural festivals of the Khmer ethnic group in Soc Trang province.

Besides, these localities also develop particular specialty products such as handicrafts and fine arts , fruit, confectionaries and fish sauce.
